Former Trade Unionist Kamlesh Arya charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption has asked for at least a months time to go through the second phase of disclosure before taking a plea.
Arya has been charged with one count of Abuse of Office and a count of General Dishonesty – Causing A Loss.
Today’s proceedings was for the election of a Jurisdiction and plea, however Arya said he needed more time.
On the 8th of February, Arya will make the two decisions.
The allegation dates back to 2014 where FICAC alleges, Arya while being employed in the public service as the Registrar of the University of Fiji, and while acting as the School Manager for Bhawani Dayal Memorial Primary School, committed an arbitrary act for gain, in abuse of the authority of his office.
