19327644_303The President of the UN General Assembly is raising concerns on the health of the Ocean.

Marine pollution is cluttering the Ocean and choking our marine-life, while immense garbage circulate out in the high seas.

The UN’s Environment agency says marine litter is reaching ‘alarming levels’ with about 13-thousand pieces of plastic litter per square kilometer of ocean.

President of the UN General Assembly Peter Thomson is stressing the importance of our roles in keeping our oceans healthy and free from pollution.

Thomson says its everyone’s business.

People need to take action fast as our Ocean is in danger.

The impacts of climate change are aggravating the situation, by raising sea levels are detrimental to people’s habitats, food security, livelihoods, and well-being.

Thomson says the list of woes goes on.

The UN Conference on Ocean and Seas will be held in Fiji this June.
