A 30 year old farmer of Kadavu is facing six counts of theft, for allegedly dishonestly appropriating cash and stock, while employed as a Post Master in Ono-I-Lau, amounting to over 98 thousand dollars.
The alleged incident occurred between October 2014, and May 2016.
A report was lodged by the Manager Audit for Post Fiji in June last year, when an audit conducted at the Ono-i-Lau Post Office, allegedly revealed shortage of cash and stock.
The investigation conducted by crime personnel at Totogo Police Station, has seen almost a year of gathering statements and relevant documents, whereby the accused is alleged to have dishonestly appropriated cash and stock.
The accused was arrested from his village in Kadavu last week, and charged with six counts of theft.
He was produced at the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday, and was remanded in custody, as he failed to provide two sureties.
