There are more government projects that are in the planning process for the Coral Coast.
Minister of Local government Urban Development, Housing and Environment Praveen Kumar revealed this while commissioning a new sporting facility in Sigatoka.
Yet another project completed and marked successful by government in the town of Sigatoka. These sporting facility for the people and students of Sigatoka came at a cost of $120 000.
“This is part of initiative by the Fiji first government to provide facilities for all Fijians and let me say this to you our children who are present here you don’t have to pay to use this, this is for you,” said Praveen Kumar, Minister for Local Government.
Kumar says this projects reflects the commitment by government and its structured program for equal opportunities and equal facilities in development for all Fijians in all districts.
This facility will be available to everyone and i urge all to make use of this facility in particular it provides additional training and competition facilities for athletes in the district of Sigatoka and the larger province of Nadroga Navosa.
Students and teachers alike who were part of the commissioning ceremony were beaming with excitement as they took to the court.
“We are amazed because of this free facilities and all this while we were going to Lawaqa for our training in order to prepare for our district tournaments which is coming up very soon next week. And we thank the government of the day for providing us with this free facility and i know we’ll be able to use it well utilise it well we are so thankful,” said Divane Waqanivatu of Sigatoka Methodist College.
Government has asked the people of Sigatoka to work hand in hand with their municipal council in the lead up to the planned projects soon to be rolled out for the town.
“And I urge the rate payers and citizens of Sigatoka to fully cooperate and participate in this exercise after all it is your town, Sigatoka is growing and government is committed in developing a lovable township.”
In addition to the commissioned facility, the Sigatoka river bank project and the town boundary extension is next on the list for the Ministry of local government.
