Fiji had 57 productions valued at 135 million dollars last year.
These production companies spent 43million dollars directly into the economy and generated new economic activity levels of 120 point 4 million dollars.
Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism and Lands and Mineral Resources Faiyaz Koya revealed the figures while officiating at the Film Fiji Stakeholders Seminar yesterday.
The Seminar, attended by key stakeholders aims to set a precedence in marketing Fiji as a leader in film tourism.
In opening the day – long seminar, Minister Koya challenged the stakeholders to share information in charting a way forward for the industry.
The Fijian Government he says is serious about the industry, and this is evident through the best film rebate incentive in the world, which is 47 percent provided by the Government.
