civic centerIn May this year due to the work required on the removal of asbestos in the Civic Centre Building, the Stinson Parade Road was closed for necessary containment of the asbestos removal works.

Following assessments by the National Occupational Health and Safety Services of the Ministry of Employment, Suva City Council and its contractor on the asbestos removal works (Contract Environment Services), members of the public are advised that the Stinson Parade Road from the Civic carpark is now open to the general public as an exit point only for vehicles and foot pedestrians along the parallel footpath.
The entry from the Town Hall Road however will remain closed.

The Ministry also advises that the Stinson Parade Road is significantly removed from the asbestos removal site at Civic Center.
A barricade has been erected to act as a buffer between the removal work site and the public access area.

The assessments also conducted by the Ministry have confirmed that the outside of the Civic Centre building is considered and declared safe.
