Rarawai Mill workers raise issues with Prime Minister

Visiting the Rarawai Mill in Ba yesterday the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama had a lengthy talanoa session with Mill workers who had gathered to meet with him.

Matters subject to the this talanoa session were issues faced by these Mill workers.

Bainimarama was also pleased with the rate of production work at the Ba Mill.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in the last two days of his tour of school commissioning also visited cane farmers and cane cutters, to talk about matters concerning the industry.

Yesterday he visited the Fiji Sugar Cooperation staff and Mill workers in Rarawai giving them credit for the satisfactory work carried out at the mill.

“I’m glad to be here to see a lot of you and i commend you for the results coming out of the mill. I’ve heard a lot about the mill in the last couple of weeks and I’ve been given the briefing about the mill about the wonderful product coming out and of course the less number of break down. Last night i heard there was a breakdown and it was fixed immediately. But i thank you for the wonderful result whatever party you’re in thank you for the wonderful results coming out of Rarawai Mill,” said the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama.

There has been a significant turn around of Mill operations with much reduced lost time due to breakdown here at the Rarawai Mill in Ba as the result of the extra effort put in by these workers.

And Bainimarama has personally visited them to acknowledge and address issues they are facing

“What you want is a little beyond sugar, i know you want water electricity you want social welfare for your families and the whole government team is here with me. We been together in the last couple of days mostly to commission some of the schools as some of the schools have been fixed an repaired after hurricane Winston.”

The Rarawai Mill has so far crushed well above 244 thousand tonnes of cane compared to the 131 thousand tonnes in the same period last year.

And Bainimarama visited farms and in the outskirts of Ba to first hand witness work on the ground.
