Performance system will be rolled out at the end of this year – AG

AG Labasa 1Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General, Hon. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum held the second round of nationwide roadshow for civil servants and nurses at the Kshatriya Hall in Labasa yesterday afternoon.

During the roadshow, civil servants were briefed on the civil service reforms, and assured by the Civil Service Reform Management Unit that no one will lose his or her job as a result of the reform.

They were also informed that going forward, pay increments will be based on performance assessment.

Close to 150 civil servants present at the roadshow were briefed on the major aspects of the reforms such as the 3-year and 5-year contracts, appeal procedure, discipline and the reforms, various salary bands, performance assessment, job evaluation exercise as well as advertising and redeployment.

The AG said performance management system will be rolled out at the end of this year.

He also spoke about the new meal allowance and other allowances that were being reviewed.

The AG presented a snapshot of the 2017-2018 national budget, highlighting Fiji’s economic performance.
