The increasing burden of Non-Communicable Diseases in Fiji and the region makes good oral health more important in maintaining health.
While officiating at the Fiji Oral Health Workers Association’s Excellence Awards Night at Lautoka’s Tanoa Waterfront Hotel on Saturday night, Speaker Hon. Dr Jiko Luveni said it was important for dental practitioners to continue to ensure good oral health was accessible to all Fijians.
Dr Luveni says it has to be ensured that all Fijians from all walks of life, especially those with special needs and the elderly are not denied access to good dental health care, no matter where they live.
Dr Luveni who was a Dentist by profession, highlighted to the dental practioners that they have seen and learnt about several new innovations and technologies that can improve dental practices and make their service delivery more effective and safer for all Fijians.
The Speaker of Parliament also applauded the Association for hosting an impressive world-class two-day conference and bringing in overseas and local experts to upgrade the knowledge and skills of the dental practitioners, prior to the awards night.
