Prime Minister drums up support as COP 23 nears

Hon. Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in SydneyPrime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says Fiji will be demanding bold and decisive action on climate change in Bonn, Germany this year.

Speaking at the official Fiji Day celebrations in Sydney yesterday, Bainimarama told the Fijian community that next month in Bonn, Germany, Fiji will take the lead in confronting the greatest threat that has ever faced humanity – climate change.

The Incoming President of COP 23 says he will lead a grand coalition of climate action of governments, businesses and civil society to the Climate Change conference.

The Fijian COP 23 team he says is seeking the full implementation of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

The Prime Minister says he has taken on the COP23 Presidency, because we cannot sit idly by while industrialized nations continue to make this crisis even worse.

Bainimarama also thanked the Australian Government for their six million Australian dollars support to Fiji’s presidency.

The Prime Minister also informed the Fijian community in Sydney of the various developments undertaken by government in Fiji.
