Students need to contribute to the betterment of the Nation – Ali

ali2The Permanent Secretary for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Shaheen Ali has stressed that all the students need to take pride in not just their education but also contribute to the betterment of the nation.

While officiating at the annual awards day for Rakiraki Muslim Primary School, PS Ali highlighted that all children are seen as the future leaders of Fiji, therefore, it is very important that they are given the opportunity to excel in their chosen fields and careers.

PS Ali called on all the children to take the lead from the Hon. Prime Minister, who at the global level, has successfully received commitment from world leaders in Bonn, Germany to protect the natural environment.

He reiterated that our Prime Minister has been leading the world in climate-change talks and Fiji has been punching above its weight in many areas.

“We should remember that our actions and activities directly and indirectly impact the whole ecosystem. In fact, environment is what sustains us, the quality of our life essentially depends on our surroundings,”
PS Ali said.

In order to protect our environment, PS Ali urged the students to plant trees as trees give life, absorb Carbon dioxide and give Oxygen, instead of driving, walk, ride a bike or take the bus conserve electricity and water, stop using plastic bags, and stop littering to keep Fiji beautiful.
