frcsThe Fiji Revenue and Customs Service have made significant progress in the implementation of the VAT Monitoring System and Electronic Fiscal Device following another successful live test at the Carpenters Fiji Group Max Value Supermarket in Lami last week.

CEO, Visvanath Das says Maui Bay Supermarket was the first taxpayer to pilot the program in November this year.

The deadline to implement an Electronic Fiscal Device for those that fall under the first group of businesses is the end of this month.

However, Das says they continue to receive requests from affected taxpayers and Point of Sale System suppliers to extend the deadline bearing in mind that this is a busy period for them.

An Electronic Fiscal Device is a fiscal device system comprising of a Point of Sale System and Sales Data Controller that is connected to cash registers and produces fiscal invoices.

It includes a secure element that transmits the fiscal data to the Fiji Revenue & Customs Service.
