The Fiji Police’s war on drugs continues to gain momentum as members of the public show their support in eradicating the illegal trade from their communities.

Police have confirmed that over the last few days plants have been uprooted, parcels and sachets of dried leaves seized and money believed to have been earned from the sale of drugs seized from the homes and farms of suspected dealers.

A team of officers from the Eastern Division conducted an early morning raid at Wailailai Settlement in Naibulini, Wainibuka yesterday whereby they uprooted plants ranging up to 3 meters in height.

In the Northern Division information received led to a raid at the home of 47 year old farmer at Nasavu Settlement in Bua whereby sachets of substances wrapped in foil and dried leaves believed to be marijuana was seized on Monday afternoon.

In the Southern Division again after information was received, a team from the Valelevu Police Station uprooted plants believed to be marijuana from a home in Newtown Settlement on Sunday morning.

And last Friday a 47 year old businessman of Malolo, Nadi was arrested and charged after a raid conducted by Nadi Police resulted in the seizure of parcels of dried leaves and plants later confirmed to be marijuana.

Police state that these are just some of the arrests and raids conducted by officers throughout the four policing divisions and Police war on drugs continues to intensify as a result of the assistance shown by members of the public.

Police are continuing to urge those with information to call Crime Stoppers on 919 or the following Command Centers if they have any information on the illegal drug trade.
