The training was facilitated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports staff and Sara Conklin, a Peace Corps Volunteer based at the Western Division office.
The main objective of the training was to register Peace Corps Volunteer as Award Leaders and to promote DEIA to youth clubs, schools and communities.
The Minister for Youth and Sports, Laisenia Tuitubou, welcomed the training and encouraged youths to actively participate in the program.
He added that they have recently awarded the first special school and a youth club with bronze medal awards in the Northern Division and I hope to see many other schools, youth clubs and individuals being part of this wonderful inclusive non-formal education program across all Divisions.
One of the Peace Corps Volunteers and a participant during the Award Leaders’ training, Anisha Banerjee said that the Duke of Edinburgh program is really important because it encourages the development of really well-rounded youth.
