There is a shortage of three hundred doctors in Fiji’s health system.
Health Minister – Rosy Akbar mentioned that the 68 doctors inducted today, is still far from addressing the issue of shortage of doctors in the country.
Akbar adds that currently they have 6 hundred and 15 doctors, however the Ministry needs 900 to cater for the shortage of doctors in the country.
Despite the number of complaints received by the Health Ministry regarding the issue of shortage of doctors and nurses, Akbar confirms that the Ministry’s work is progressing to meet public demand.
