The Water Authority of Fiji has confirmed that the ‘Vanessa Valve’ at the Nagado Water Treatment Plant is getting worse everyday.
Hence that will cause the scheduled closure for the four days, scheduled next month, February 3rd to February 6th.
Board members, visited the Nagado Water Treatment Plant in Nadi on the weekend, to see that preparation plans were in place for the upcoming major water disruptions, for Nadi and Lautoka, scheduled next month.
WAF Board Director – Kamal Gounder confirms they have met with the contractor, Eliza Engineering, who have all the teams set up for the repair works to be carried out.
Twenty-four-hour shifts will be conducted for repairing and the Water Authority is also prepared with water carting trucks, ready to serve.
Some areas will still have normal water supply during the shutdown, which will be supplied from the Buabua and Saru Water Treatment Plants.
The outskirts of Lautoka City will be affected, but the Nadi area and the hotels around Nadi will be the major group affected, and domestic customers of the Lautoka Central Business District .
The Lautoka Hospital will be supplied through the Buabua and Saru Water Treatment Plants.
Nadi Hospital already have water tanks in place, which the Water Authority will refill before the shutdown happens.
Most schools that will be affected have backup water tanks, so the Water Authority’s water carting trucks, will ensure that the tanks are filled.
