The Weather systems in the Coral Sea have been active and have triggered two Tropical Disturbances.
The Fiji Meteorological Office says the enhanced weather activity is due to intro-seasonal tropical wave that is migrating eastwards and has potential to trigger a few more disturbances this week and into early next week in the Fiji region.
The TD05F was short-lived whilst TD06F intensified into significant depression over the weekend, attained Category 1 Tropical Cyclone status yesterday morning and named “Fehi” by Regional Specialised Meteorological Centre in Nadi.
Fehi is the first tropical cyclone named in Fiji’s Area of Responsibility this tropical cyclone season.
On its current track, “Fehi” posses no direct threat to Fiji; however, associated cloud and rain is anticipated to start affecting the western parts of country from Thursday.
As “Fehi moves southwards, the trough will lie in the close vicinity of Fiji and embedded low are expected to develop later in the week.
