The Education Ministry is again marking the national suicide prevention day next month however school heads are to ensure that students do not dramatize or role play scenes of the actual act of suicide in any awareness work.
The Ministry says this can cause potential harm on the minds of the young people as they grow up.
In a memo sent to all schools, Education permanent secretary Iowane Tiko says all schools will have to conduct a half day awareness program on suicide prevention on Friday 9th September.
The P-S says the Ministry continues to have a great concern for young people who are taking their lives prematurely, adding every effort should be taken to prevent this problem.
The Ministry says the focus of all activities in school is for students to understand that everyone goes through problems and stress in life.
Students should be encouraged to connect with someone and communicate their problems, says the Ministry.
The theme for 2016 is “Connect, Communicate and Care”.
The Education Ministry is asking teachers and students to work together in organising a programme for their school.
