A group of scientists who are conducting research and studies on the Pacific oceans on board the Tara Expedition are in the country for the next couple of days.
The group have begun collecting samples of corals from the Yasawas, Pacific Harbour and Nukulau.
Head of International Policy for the French Government, Andre’ Abren says their planned visit was to coincide with the Oceans Conference in New York this week.
The group of scientists on board will conduct their research for 2 years and will compile their reports to the United Nations with a budget estimate of more than 10 million dollars of works carried out.
