Tropical depression TD12F located about 460 kilometres West of Nadi

A gale warning is now in force for the Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups, Viti Levu, Kadavu and the nearby smaller islands, as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti Groups.

A strong wind warning remains in force for the rest of Fiji.

Tropical depression TD12F – was located about 460 kilometres West of Nadi at 9am today. Close to its centre the depression is expected to have average winds of up to 45 kilometres per hour with momentary gusts up to 80 km/hr.

The depression is expected to move East-Southeast of the country. TD12F is intensifying and the potential for it to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours – is high.

Localised heavy falls may lead to flooding of low lying areas.

For the rest of Fiji – expect heavy rain at times and few squally thunderstorms – localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.
